Hair

The hair gets its nourishment from your blood supply, which comes directly from the foods we eat. It is important to eat fresh fruits and vegetables to improve the health of the hair. Hair vitamins are a good way to promote healthy hair. A protein treatment and moisturizing treatment should be used often. The hair sheds at least 50 to 80 strands a day, but is not to be confused with alopecia (abnormal hair loss) or male/female pattern baldness. Poor diet and medications could cause hair loss. Dandruff and other scalp conditions can also lead to hair loss.

The hair is similiar to the skin because it has layers. The hair has three layers, an outer layer (cuticle), a middle layer (cortex) and a center (medulla). Imagine if you were to bruise your skin, the same goes for the hair, if you bruise or damage the top layer of the hair shaft due to styling tools it will cause the middle of the hair to be exposed and cause the hair to break off.

Dos and Don'ts

  • Always use leave-in conditioner.
  • Wait 8 weeks or more to relax your hair, depending on texture.
  • Try to moisturize and blow out the hair between the 6th to 8th week
  • Don't leave untrimmed ends because of length, your stylist can fit a design to the hair as it grows
  • Don't leave a weave in for more that 6 weeks
  • If the braids or your weave is too tight...TAKE IT OUT!!!!!!!!!!!
  • Blow dry upward, use volume shampoo and volume mouse to create fullness
  • Use mild lye relaxer to leave body in your hair
  • NEVER, NEVER, NEVER relax your own hair
  • A Relaxer is not meant to stay on for a half hour or until it is irritating the scalp
  • Don't color and relax your hair on the same day. Wait at least two weeks or more.
  • The perimeter of your hair, your hairline, nape and temples, are the most vulnerable. If you use any gel, hot iron or other styling tool and product every day, it will weaken the hair and skin.
  • Don't relax around the perimeter of your hair. The hairline does not grow back the same.
  • Don't pluck grey hair, instead use a demi-color. A demi-color is a non-permanent color specially formulated for grey hair.
  • If your hair is THIN...DAMAGED...or BROKEN do NOT GET A CHEMICAL SERVICE....get treatment!!!!

Makeup

What is the largest organ of the body? It is the skin. Drinking plenty of water and eating fresh healthy foods will promote healthy skin as water flushes the cells. Try not to eat sweets, starches and fried foods, as it can lead to unwanted blemishes and oily skin. Acne and other skin disorders are not directly linked to eating certain foods, but you will definitely see a difference in your skin and health when you eat correctly. You are what you eat...corny but true. Makeup can do wonders when given a healthy canvas.

Dos & Don'ts

  • Always remove makeup before bed
  • Moisturize, moisturize, MOISTURIZE
  • Throw away marcara after 6 weeks, it's cheaper than an infection.
  • For a sun-bathed look apply bronzer to your forhead, bridge of nose and cheekbones
  • Use primer before foundation for a lasting effect
  • For pale skin, use a rose toned foundation
  • For olive skin, use a warm tone foundation
  • For reddish skin, use a beige toned foundation
  • Use a tinted moisturizer in the summer
  • Everybody must use SPF!!!
  • If very fair or pale skinned use a slightly darker foundation. If foundation is too light, it might look ashy, pale and noticable

We use OPI products
